Dental Bridges
A dental bridge closes the space between teeth
by replacing the missing teeth. A fixed bridge consists of two or
more crowns (abutments) which cover the teeth on both sides of the
space and replacement teeth (pontics) that close the space. The
bridge is cemented or bonded in place.
Crowns
Dental Crowns are used to restore broken or chipped
teeth, protect weak or decayed teeth, and to support bridges. Permanent
crowns can be made from full ceramic, metal, resin or porcelain
fused to metal. A crown usual requires 2-3 visits with the dentist.
Fillings
Fillings are used to treat a cavity. The dentist
removes the portion of the tooth that has been decayed, cleans out
that area and fills it with filling. Fillings can be made up of
various different substances silver amalgam, porcelain, gold or
composite resin materials.
Sealants
Sealants act as protective barriers against acids
and harmful bacteria’s that could decay the teeth. They are
made up of plastic thin coatings that are applied /painted onto
the teeth (usually pre molars and molars) to act as a shield to
the enamel of the teeth. This is a preventative treatment and is
usually done on children between the ages of 6 - 14 but adults can
also benefit from the treatment.
